During the upcoming weeks many of us will prepare to celebrate holidays with family and friends. Whether we wish to make a room look special or give a gift that demonstrates creativity and care, we can craft beautiful arrangements with roses that fit the occasion without breaking the bank. In this virtual demonstration, Ami Wilber, Floral and Event Décor Designer for Hillwood Museum and Gardens, will guide participants through her creative process and the mechanics of floristry while using roses and greenery possible to find at grocery store prices.

Biographical Sketch for Ami Wilber

Spending much of her childhood picking flowers from the meadow behind her house to create bouquets for her mom, Ami Wilber has cultivated a love for nature by creating beauty from it. She graduated from Miami University with a degree in Fine Arts and went on to receive her MFA in sculpture from Rochester Institute of Technology, School for American Crafts. Since 2016, Ami has been Floral and Event Décor Designer for Hillwood Museum and Gardens, the former Washington, DC residence of Marjorie Merriweather Post where she blends her knowledge of art and floristry to create living sculptures, trying to capture the whims of nature in a composed setting.
