Admittedly, roses may not be the first plants to come to mind as being problem solvers in the garden!  However, when you select the right varieties, roses can be extremely versatile plants, whether you garden on a tiny balcony or at a sprawling estate.  If you're tired of spending your weekends mowing, trimming and edging; or you think your garden is too small for roses, then be sure to join PRS on Sunday January 21 at 2PM via Zoom as we welcome award-winning author, editor, publisher and lifelong gardener Kathy Jentz; and learn how to harness the power of roses to beautify your home garden while solving all manner of gardening woes.

Using tips and inspirational images from her two books, Kathy will introduce us to creative rose containers, best practices for container culture, roses on structures for privacy and vertical interest, and tried-and-true methods for replacing turf grass with carefree rose groundcovers.

Kathy Jentz is editor and publisher of Washington Gardener Magazine, and hosts the popular GardenDC podcast. She is also the editor of the Water Garden Journal (IWGS), the Azalean (ASA), and Fanfare, for the local daylily society. She is the author of Groundcover Revolution, and co-author of The Urban Garden: 101 Ways to Grow Food and Beauty in the City.  A lifelong Gardner, Kathy believes that growing plants should be stress-free and enjoyable. Her philosophy is inspiration over perspiration. She speaks on gardening, and has been honored to have presented programs at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the Philadelphia Flower Show, US Botanic Garden, The Historic Society of Washington DC, and many other prestigious venues. Kathy’s work was awarded a gold Laurel in the GardenComm2023 Media Awards for both public speaking and best podcast series for the GardenDC Podcast.

This program is FREE and open to the public. You must register to receive a Zoom link.  PRS members will have access to the recording on our website in the Members Only Video Library.
