Dear Rose Friends,
Please join PRS for a Hands-on Rose Pruning Event at the beautiful Bon Air Park Rose Garden in Arlington, VA, on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00 PM, followed by a Rose-Lovers Lunch at 2:30.
We’ll begin with a rose pruning demonstration led by Kevin Stalica, Arlington County Landscape Manager, followed by an opportunity to practice pruning in small groups throughout the garden. Each group will include at least one experienced pruner to provide guidance and answer questions, making this a great learning experience for all skill levels.

Bon Air Park features over 120 different rose varieties set within an expansive 24-acre park, offering a wonderful setting to learn, practice, and enjoy roses together.
Event Schedule
- 1:00 PM – Rose pruning demonstration
- Following the demo – Small-group, hands-on pruning practice
- 2:30 PM – Post-pruning lunch / social get-together
After pruning, we’ll gather for a casual lunch and social get-together at Soul Thai Kitchen & Bar (6035 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22205), where rose lovers can connect, share experiences, and enjoy a bite to eat or a hot drink. The restaurant is located a short 10 minute walk (0.4 miles) from Bon Air Park.
Participation Options
This event is designed to be flexible:
- Prefer to observe only and not prune? That’s perfectly fine.
- Want to practice pruning? Please bring pruning shears, loppers, and gardening gloves if you own them.
- Don’t have tools or forget to bring them? Extra pruners will be available.
- Want to join us just for lunch and skip the pruning? You’re welcome.
- Want to prune but skip lunch? That works too!
